Starting up the 1800* Opstarten 1e keer in 2009 met problemen* Reparatie display beeld fout*Reparatie Keybord* Formatteren van 8"floppen via Windows-PC* B-Proms uitlezen
After I stored the Datapoint away in app. 1992 the computer was still in working order. Then in 1999 I did a restart again, but screen got blank and only I heard some powerup noises, the disks did not start booting. At that time I did a debug on the powerunit but, seems to be OK. After some emails I was told to pull out and than put back in the Proms. Than maybe it will power up again, but it did not. Well I kept the compleet computer thinking ones I will and I shall get it back to work.As I then new it was a rear Item that Datapoint. In the mean time I just take a look at the internet ones a year or so, trying to find something about Datapoint and their old computers. Did also make a register at the Datapoint corporation Forum but they also could not help me. Then in jan 2008 I suddenly found some manuals of the 1800. look here at the Bitsavers.org index site of the Datapoint 1800 to download several manuals. If you look further on that site you find information of the 2200/3300/3800/5500/6600/8600, arcnet, prodspec, software manuals. Also some software Floppy Images and CassetteDumps to be found there So a progress and a great site. June of 2009 I found the site of "Dan's 20Th Century Abandoneware". At that page telling that he send someone a 1800 systemdisk to startup his system. So that is a new start someone still has a 1800! Asked Dan by email to contact me to that person because I never notised someone else with a 1800. So he did, the person indeed write me back and that was a new start for the both. Now we are in contact and put all the knowlage we have together. How great internet is! Later on I will tell the story of the first start up problems. But as for now it was working again. Could start some disks and played a smal game Yatzee.
Software; As for now I put on the site the B/Proms data files of all my proms that I have readout.
Pictures of the first start up.
